Clay that doesn't care how high the town sits
Apex's downtown dates to an 1873 incorporation and today falls partly within a Historic District designated in 1994, but none of that history changes what's underneath a foundation: the Piedmont's Cecil-series clay is deep and well-drained on paper yet fine-textured and slow to shed water after a storm. A property's moisture risk depends on that clay, not on which part of town it sits in.
